Description
Skinning knife named from the Leaf River, which starts in Central Mississippi in Scott and Smith County. The knife is forged from 1095 high carbon steel and is polished to a satin finish. Handmade leather sheath made for each knife. There is no belt loop on the sheath, since skinners are made for when the deer is hung up and not in the field.
Blade is about 4″ long and the total length is about 7.5″. The blade at the belly is close to 2″ wide and has a smooth grind fro the blade to the spine. These knives are sharpened to a high level of sharpness and are ready to use when the come out of the box.
I have 3 of these in stock. They are numbered 1, 2 and 3 because these are the first skinners I have made in this design. All 3 have curly Crape Myrtle handles from local plants. Number 1 and 2 have a decorative pin in the shape of a deer head and #3 has a 1/4″ brass lanyard hole.
This knife is named after the Leaf River in MS that begins as a creek in Scott County, MS and turns into a strong river by the time it makes it to the Mississippi River. The leaf river begins in the area that I grew up hunting and I bagged my first buck on a stand right on the Leaf River while I was with my dad! I could not think of any better name for this blade design!!!
