I began using a forge and anvil to move metal in 2012 and made my first blade in 2013. I started making knives just for me, like most folks do, but then moved to making them for friends. I have quite a few blades being used around the Southeast and some being used in other countries by active duty military. All of them are holding an edge and holding up nicely. Because I have had success with these blades, I decided I would try to sell some of them to share my skill with people I do not know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just like all hobbies, we have time to do things and then things happen and we don’t have time. The last several years have been slow for me in knife making. Moving and having to move my forge from the shop in the backyard to the farm that is 1 and a half hours away makes it a little harder to just go out and forge like I was able to do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I believe that a forged blade is superior to a fully ground blade because the movement of the atoms in the metal during forging result in chemical changes in the metal that tend to help make the steel stronger and more resilient. Although some blades will not show any hammer or forging marks, most will! I do not try to grind them all out, because I believe that they are indicators of a quality hand-made product and give each knife it’s own personality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
